Some pictures of what we’re signing up for

Hi all.  Here are some good aerial photos of the way these mines look.  Nope, these don’t look like the little sand-mines that our non-metallic mining ordinance was designed to manage — these look like industrial sand-mines to me. A few notes.

  • The middle picture is a wash and transfer plant like the one that’s proposed in the Starkey application — right by the school.
  • The second-to-last one is a “mine and wash plant” operation similar to the one that’s proposed in the R&J application.
  • And NONE of these mines is as big as the one that’s proposed in the Seven Sands application up Waumandee Valley.
